About this experience
Join us on an exciting journey through Sri Lanka! Explore the walls and bastions of the granite Galle Fort, experience a river safari and visit a turtle hatchery, connect with the ancient shrines and sacred sites of the island - all in one day.
What to Expect
- Our journey begins with a visit to the medieval fortress of Galle. You will uncover the fascinating history of this granite citadel, which changed hands several times. We will show you where to find the famous lighthouse, as well as various religious structures: a mosque, the Dutch Reformed Church, and a Buddhist temple.
- Next on the itinerary is a safari along the Bentota River. We will explore the wild nature, visit cinnamon plantations, and mangrove thickets. If we're lucky, we'll encounter monkeys and crocodiles.
- Then we will head to Kosgoda, where the turtle hatchery in Sri Lanka is located. Here you will see sea turtles in their natural habitat. You can pet and photograph them.
- Another natural attraction of the island is in the mountains. During the visit to the mine, you will observe the process of mining the precious moonstone and uncover the secrets of its processing.
- Next, we will visit a memorial site dedicated to the victims of the 2004 tsunami. You will see the statue of the Big Buddha, which is hard to miss. Its height is 18 meters - just like the wave that hit the city.
- On the way back, we will stop by an Ayurvedic garden - to see how local medicinal plants and spices are grown. If desired, we can also visit the fruit market.
