About this experience
The alma mater of Dante, Petrarch, Copernicus, Dürer, and other prominent figures, the oldest secular educational institution in Europe - of course, we are talking about the University of Bologna. At the beginning of the tour, you will learn how the Neptune Fountain is connected to the university and see the house on the main square where a law faculty teacher lived in the 13th century. I will tell you why the law faculty students were considered people of 'blue blood' and the teachers - demigods.
We will visit the Palazzo Archiginnasio - the first building of the University of Bologna. You will see the auditorium for jurists and the classroom for practical lessons of medical students, learn about the alma mater of many creators and scholars. We will visit the square of St. Dominic, where I will show and tell you about the sarcophagi of the glossators.
We will walk through the university district, visit the university church where students come to pray before exams, stop by the university cafeteria, and visit UniBOStore - the official souvenir shop of the University of Bologna.
Being a graduate of the University of Bologna, I will tell you about the admission process, the educational process, the opportunity to receive scholarships for foreign students. And I will definitely take you to my faculty, where you will see lecture halls, libraries, professors, and for a while, feel like students of the oldest university in Europe.
