About this experience
I invite you to visit the caves of Saint Joseph, located in the natural reserve of the picturesque province of Castellon. You will navigate through the longest underground river in Europe, observing mysterious stalactites and ancient settlers' rock paintings. This journey will unveil new natural beauties of beautiful Valencia: blooming orange fields, mountain peaks, and fantastic cave landscapes.
What to expect
Underground river in the caves of Saint Joseph
The caves, our main destination, are situated in the Sierra De Espadan natural reserve. Primitive humans inhabited this area during the Neolithic era, as evidenced by the rock paintings at the cave entrance. You will embark on a boat journey along the underground river surrounded by mysterious lights glowing from the water depths. The origin and end of this underground river remain unknown, but we will navigate a section of over a kilometer by boat and then walk through an underground gallery deep inside the cave. Here, you will encounter stunning cave landscapes created by whimsical stalactites and stalagmites.
Charm of Valencia's landscapes
The coast of Castellon province, where our route will lead, bears the promising name of the 'Orange Blossom Coast', and rightfully so: you will pass through kilometers of orange fields while admiring mountain and sea views. On the way to the caves, I will share with you the history of Valencia, Roman conquests, local traditions, and gastronomic peculiarities. After the boat trip, we can ascend one of the mountains for a breathtaking view of the entire Sierra De Espadan mountain range and the ruins of an ancient Iberian settlement.
