About this experience
Change in direction is possible at any time. That's why our program is called the 'Reversible Tunnel'. We will travel against the flow of underground streams, passing stalactites and stalagmites, on rafts with flashlights in hand. Afterwards, we will visit a Thai family, explore a unique temple complex, and swim in a waterfall.
What to Expect
Underground Kingdom
Embark on a cave exploration inside Elephant Hill in Phang Nga province. A stream runs through the cave all year round. We will start by navigating in inflatable canoes, then switch to a bamboo raft. The final stretch will be done on foot (we will provide suitable footwear). The floor will be sandy in some places, rocky in others. Along the way, admire stalactites and stalagmites, discover crystals shaped like elephants, crocodiles, birds, mushrooms.
Local Hospitality
After the cave, we will visit an ancient Thai residence. You will see how the local intelligentsia lived over 100 years ago. Bedrooms and dressing tables, suitcases and sewing machines, black-and-white TVs and radios. You will learn why Thai houses didn't need air conditioning, what wood they were built of, and why their roofs have a certain shape. The family hosting us will prepare a meal with warmth and hospitality.
Caves and Buddha Statue
Next, we will explore a temple complex consisting of several caves created by nature: Tham Yai ('Big Cave'), Tham Jaeng ('Bright Cave'), Tham Meud ('Dark Cave'), and Tham Kaew ('Crystal Cave'). Underground waters have seeped through limestone for millions of years, moisture evaporated, and sediment formed curious stalactites and stalagmites. A colony of bats resides in one of the crevices, and here lies a relic - a 15-meter statue of a reclining Buddha.
Jungle Waterfall
We will end the day with a swim in a waterfall. Tourists do not usually reach this spot as it is located near the border with Burma. The trails leading into the jungle will entice you with aroma and freshness, and the water will energize you!
