About this experience
All lovers of Spanish wine are invited to a gastronomic journey through the wine province of Requena. This corner of Valencia is famous for the quality of its wine and cava, as well as delicious sausage products. Would you like to stroll through the streets of the medieval city, descend into caves that were once wine cellars, and taste the best wines of Valencia? Then let's go on a journey!
What to Expect
Medieval Requena Caves
The capital of the Requena province was founded by the Arabs - and you will immediately notice echoes of Arab culture among the labyrinth of streets in the Old Town. We will take a walk through the city, explore the 15th-century fortress, remnants of the city wall, and the lookout tower that have survived since medieval times. An inheritance of the Muslim era in Requena is the underground caves that run beneath the historical center of the city. These caves used to serve as huge cellars for wine and provisions, and now there is a museum here that we can visit at your request.
Tasting at a Valencia Winery
Next, you will embark on a journey into the world of Valencian wine at a small private winery. You will walk among the vineyards, take atmospheric photos, and taste grapes straight from the vine (in season). We will visit the wine cellars and speak about the production of local wine and cava. You will learn how to understand wine and read labels on bottles, and discover how to choose the best wine. And after that, you will enjoy a tasting of wines, cavas, liqueurs, and sausage products!
