About this experience
I invite you to drive through the most unusual streets of old Funchal with their colorful doors and exquisite restaurants. I will help you learn about the history of Madeira's capital, take you to the picturesque corners of the city, and tell you about its architecture. You will visit the main cathedral of Funchal, stop by the local market with exotic fruits, and visit shops with cork products. And of course, you will taste Madeira wine and other drinks at the wine factory cellar.
What to Expect
I will show you the most interesting buildings and tell you about the architecture of the 15th-18th centuries, we will visit the main cathedral and stop by the central market Mercado de Lavradores.
The market is incredibly colorful, here you can find a variety of exotic fruits, flowers, and fish. We will also visit the factory of ancient Madeira embroidery Bordados, stop by a store where cork products are sold (bags, wallets, covers for iPad and iPhone) and ceramics of exquisite beauty.
If you wish, we can visit the history museum of Madeira. We will also taste Madeira wine and other regional drinks in the wine factory cellar - I will tell you their history. We will visit Monte with its famous church, where the Austro-Hungarian Emperor Charles I is buried. Then, at your request, we will stop at the best local restaurant for lunch, where you will have the opportunity to taste the local fish caught in the coastal waters of Madeira.
