About this experience
From Montenegro, it is just a stone's throw away to another, if not paradise, then incredibly idyllic and beautiful corner - Bosnia and Herzegovina. You will admire the mountain ranges on the border, see monasteries where Christianity emerged in these lands. And then you will find yourself in the city of Trebinje, where you will discover its contrasts, the history of the past, and taste local wine.
What awaits you
History and culture of the neighboring country
Crossing the Boko-Kotor Bay by ferry, we will head towards the Orient mountain range, along which the border between Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina stretches. I will tell you about the complicated past of the neighboring country. Its inhabitants were baptized in the early Christian era at the Petropavlovsk monastery, which you will visit. And at another monastery called Tvrdos, built by the rulers of Byzantium, Saint Basil of Ostrog took monastic vows. You will see one of the few remaining pigeon post stations, visit the historical-ethnographic museum if desired, and find yourself in the cultural center of eastern Herzegovina - Trebinje.
Trebinje - a contrasting city
You will see how multifaceted Trebinje is. Here, the Catholic cathedral, the Osman-pasha mosque, and the Orthodox church are located side by side, and old architecture easily coexists with the new. You will climb to the viewing platform on the Crkvine hill, where the Annunciation church - the Herzegovinian Gracanica with the tomb of the great Serbian poet Jovan Ducic, towers. From above, you will see how the Arslanagic Bridge elegantly crosses the Trebisnjica River, and captivated by this panorama, you will head to the Square of Centennial Plane Trees. And the culmination of the tour will be a tasting of local wine at a private vineyard, where you can try and buy not only traditional wines, but also liqueurs and rakia.
