Through the Ages to the Founding of Rome
About this experience
I invite you to explore Rome little by little, immersing yourself in various eras of Italy's formation. We will learn about the republican, Roman, Renaissance, and Baroque periods. We will discuss the period of Italy's unification into a single state and the tragic years of fascism.
Program
The landmarks we encounter along the way will help enrich the walk with special colors and impressions. The route is diverse and of varying duration.
• We will start our walk at Piazza del Popolo, which stands at the convergence point of three major transport arteries amidst the 'jungle' of Roman buildings. Here, we will admire three baroque gem churches, one of which houses works by the renowned Caravaggio.
• Reaching the Spanish Steps with the facade of its elegant 15th-century church and fountain, we will immerse ourselves in the world of high fashion, strolling along one of the most famous 'brand' streets in Rome.
• Wandering through the alleys, we will reach the Pantheon - the 'temple of all gods', an example of architectural and construction mastery, which currently serves as a national mausoleum, housing the remains of the great Italian Renaissance artist Raphael.
• Heading towards Piazza Argentina, we will admire the archaeological complex known as the 'Sacred Area' with remains of a temple dating back to the early 3rd century BC.
• Taking a break at one of the local bars and tasting one of the most delicious coffee drinks, 'Ginseng', rightfully competing with espresso and cappuccino, we will venture into the Jewish Ghetto area with ancient ruins of a portico from the time of Emperor Augustus.
• Strolling along the riverbank past Tiber Island, resembling a ship, we will reach the Temple of Hercules - the oldest surviving marble building to this day.
• Not far from the temple, we will test our fate by placing our hand in the 'Mouth of Truth': according to legend, it was always possible to expose an infidel or perjurer with its help.
• Climbing the Aventine Hill, we will reach the 'Orange Garden' - one of the most romantic and beautiful spots in Rome, where we will enjoy a breathtaking view of Rome's landscape.
• We will conclude our walk opposite the legendary 'Palatine Hill': according to tradition, it was on this hill in 753 BC that the eternal city of Rome was founded.

Everything was wonderful. The guide managed to convey historical dates combining them with modernity. Subtle humor, light storyteller. My teenage son really enjoyed it. Many thanks for the tour.
