About this experience
The tour is dedicated to the foundation of Rome, its regal and republican periods of history, as well as the legends and facts preserved for us in Roman monuments. By studying ancient ruins, we will imagine how Ancient Rome looked in different eras. We will talk about its religious and cultural development, as well as the attitude of modern residents of the Eternal City towards their heritage.
What to Expect
π We will start with the Circus Maximus - the largest entertainment venue of the Ancient World and Rome.
π We will climb to the belvedere of Romulus and Remus. From here, you will look at the surroundings of the Palatine and Aventine Hills and hear the story of the foundation of the Eternal City by the legendary twin brothers.
π We will descend to another iconic place - the Velabrum, where I will tell you about Greek colonization before the foundation of Rome.
π You will explore the ruins of the Great Altar of Hercules and the 'Mouth of Truth' in the church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin.
π Admire the Arch of Janus and the Arch of the Argentarii at the church of St. George.
π At the foot of the Palatine, I will show you the Lupercal cave, where, according to legend, the she-wolf nursed Romulus and Remus.
π At the Cattle Forum, where livestock was traded in ancient times, we will visit the temples of Portunus and Hercules Victor.
π We will walk to the Tiber River and the oldest bridges in Rome. I will introduce you to the history of Tiber Island, as well as tell you about the Etruscans and the last king of Ancient Rome, Tarquin the Proud.
π We will visit the ruins of the Triumphal Portico and the Vegetable Market - the Forum Holitorium, where the remains of three republican temples (Janus, Juno, Spes) are preserved in the church of San Nicola in Carcere.
π You will also visit the archaeological area of Sant'Omobono, the oldest of the excavated temple territories of the republican period in Rome. We will explore the ruins of the temples of Mater Matuta and Fortuna.
π At the Portico of Octavia and the Theatre of Marcellus, we will talk about the end of the Roman Republic and the beginning of the Roman Empire. We will examine the ruins of the temples of Bellona and Apollo.
π Finally, we will climb the Capitoline Hill via the Tarpeian Rock and enjoy the panorama of the Roman Forum.

Well-balanced tour with sufficient factual information to engage without overwhelming. Olga is an excellent storyteller. Currently, her tours are exclusive on Tripster in terms of content; I recommend taking a walk with her.
