About this experience
This excursion will allow you to look at the complex, multilayered Cairo from three different perspectives in one day. You will unravel the secrets of the Egyptian civilization in the museum where the mummies of great pharaohs are kept. Explore two mosques, separated by one street and 6 centuries. And then immerse yourself in the local atmosphere and the aromas of spices amidst the stalls of the Khan el-Khalili artisan bazaar.
What to Expect
Mummies Museum: Visit to the Pharaohs
The first part of the excursion will immerse you in the world of Ancient Egypt: we will visit the Mummies Museum, which recently opened its doors to guests from all over the world. You will learn about the 'Golden Pharaohs' Parade in April 2021, walk through the halls of the new Museum of Egyptian Civilization, and see the mummies of 18 pharaohs and four queens. We will discuss the era of the pharaohs, the intricacies of mummification, and the secrets of Egyptian burial rituals.
Two Mosques of Cairo
From Ancient Egypt, we will move to the Islamic world. Near the Cairo Citadel, we will visit the mosques of Al-Rifa'i and Sultan Hassan - the hallmarks of Muslim Cairo. You will compare the constructions of the 14th and 20th centuries, hear their history, and understand their place in the modern life of the city.
Colors of Khan el-Khalili Bazaar
The final part of the excursion promises to be vivid and unique, as we head to one of the most colorful places in Cairo. You will stroll through the Eastern Bazaar of the Khan el-Khalili master artisans, the oldest and largest craft market in Africa. Feel the enticing aromas of spices, admire the sparkling jewelry, carpets, and antiques, appreciate the works of potters and glassblowers. And of course, you will hardly resist the temptation to buy something for yourself or as a gift!
