In short, I invite you to explore the city in different ways and get the most enjoyment out of your walk.
What to Expect
Inside Lisbon
Lisbon is not a museum city at all because each of its old districts lives its own modern life. You will visit everywhere: walk through the winding streets of Alfama and the strict lines of Baixa, through the spacious and flat Belém district, the aristocratic Bairro Alto, and Chiado. And we will make some transitions using public transport: we will descend from Carmo Square on the Santa Justa Lift, ascend to the viewpoint of São Pedro de Alcântara on the Gloria Funicular, and ride the famous yellow Lisbon tram to the Belém district to the Jerónimos Monastery and the Monument to the Discoveries.
City Landmarks
The tour will start at Rossio Square: this is where the market stalls used to open first - medieval Lisbon woke up. You will visit the church of St. Dominic and the uniquely well-preserved luxurious interior church of St. Roch. You will visit the oldest district of Lisbon - Alfama, stop at the viewpoints of Santa Lucia and Portas do Sol, and descend to the Tagus river waterfront, to Commerce Square and the Triumphal Arch. Along the way, we will have a shot of cherry liqueur and coffee with pastéis de Belém while hearing stories about Portuguese cuisine, winemaking, and desserts.
