About this experience
Alsace is a territory of contrasts and at the same time a fusion of Romance and Germanic cultures and traditions. Perhaps it is thanks to this paradox that the region owes its authentic pastoral and urban landscapes. We will alternate wine tasting with interesting excursions to villages that, despite numerous wars, have preserved their medieval charm. Driving along the wine road, you will see numerous castles, abbeys, seemingly romantic ruins at first sight, learn about the turbulent history of these places, and winemaking traditions in Alsace.
Please note: the tour starts in Colmar.
What to Expect
From Colmar along the Alsatian wine route
The journey will begin from Colmar - the capital of Alsatian wines. You will learn about the history of the city with its well-preserved medieval quarters, the diversity of architectural styles, and famous characters that have influenced the fate of the city and the region. And then you will set off along the wine route, meandering among medieval villages, stretching across the entire region from north to south. The variety of landscapes with complex geological structure, favorable soils, dry and sunny climate are ideal for growing amazing grape varieties. Only here in Alsace, you will taste white (although actually golden wines) with dry spiciness and rich aroma.
Wine Production Traditions
In the villages of Eguisheim, Kaysersberg, Riquewihr, and Ribeauvillé, you will get acquainted with wine production traditions and taste the drink. You will stroll through winding streets, the half-timbered houses of which, engulfed in flowers, lean in irregular rows in a circle, along the former fortress walls. You will learn about past and, oddly enough, present inhabitants of ruins overgrown with lush greenery, about curious legends, traditions, and customs that live and warmly welcome guests in Alsace.
