About this experience
Alsace is a territory of contrasts and, at the same time, a fusion of Romanesque and Germanic cultures and traditions. Perhaps it is thanks to this paradox that the region owes its authentic pastoral and urban landscapes. We will alternate wine tastings with interesting excursions to villages that, despite numerous wars, have preserved their medieval charm. As you drive along the wine route, you will see numerous castles, abbeys, romantically ruinous at first glance, learn about the tumultuous history of these places, and the winemaking traditions in Alsace.
What to Expect
From Colmar along the Alsace Wine Route
The journey will start from Colmar - the capital of Alsatian wines. You will learn about the history of the city with its well-preserved medieval quarters, the diversity of architectural styles, and famous personalities who influenced the fate of the city and the region. And then you will set off along the wine route, which, meandering among medieval villages, stretches across the entire region from north to south. The variety of landscapes with complex geological structures, favorable soils, a dry and sunny climate are ideal for growing amazing grape varieties. Only here in Alsace, you will taste white (although, in reality, golden wines) with a dry spiciness and rich aroma.
Winemaking traditions
In the villages of Eguisheim, Kaysersberg, Riquewihr, and Ribeauvillé, you will get acquainted with the traditions of winemaking and taste the drink. You will stroll through the winding streets, the timber-framed houses of which, drowning in flowers, lean in uneven rows around the former fortress walls. You will learn about the former and, surprisingly, current inhabitants of the ruins, overgrown with lush greenery, about curious legends, tales, and traditions that live and warmly treat guests of Alsace.
