About this experience
The Princes' Islands, or Adalar - much is hidden in these names! But everything will become clear when you see the wooden mansions, ancient landmarks, and horse carriages instead of cars. On my favorite of the nine islands, you will find captivating chronicles and views of green hills, locations for perfect photos, and a monastery where it seems like nothing has changed for 100 years.
What to Expect
Authentic, Quiet, and Photogenic Island
From the first moments, you will notice how peaceful Heybeliada is - mass tourism does not reach here, gasoline cars are prohibited, and there is plenty of greenery. We can take bicycles, ride a phaeton, or walk. In any case, you will admire the pine trees, views of the metropolis of Istanbul, and, of course, the characteristic wooden architecture of Adalar. We will visit a stylish cafe, and I will recommend a wonderful Turkish dessert.
What the Islands Neighboring Istanbul Remember
Heybeliada's streets will lead us to the thousand-year-old Holy Trinity Monastery and the Halki Theological School - I am sure you will also be charmed by this place of power on Hope Hill. Picturesque thematic gardens are laid out here - for example, Russian and Austrian, and peacocks roam the territory. Along the way, I will tell you about the history of the monastery and school, about the Princes' Islands in general. You will learn how Adalar lived in the Byzantine era, about the changes with the arrival of the Ottomans and after the revolution, about the naming, heyday, and modern life of the islands.
