About this experience
I will introduce you to my Tel Aviv: a city of shady boulevards, sea air, and ancient history. Cycling around, you will see all the most interesting and iconic landmarks of the historic part and experience the country from a completely different perspective.
What to Expect
Ancient Israel
We will meet near the famous Jaffa Clock Tower, close to the hotel where Adolf Eichmann was once imprisoned. I will tell you about the significance of the "civil" tower for the Israelis and why the city is called the "Big Orange." Riding along the wide street, we will reach the Hassan Bek Mosque, with its minaret, green wooden doors, shutters, and arched windows that beautifully complement the panorama of the ancient Jaffa settlement. Passing by the waterfront, we will see where the former Tel Aviv Dolphinarium was located and the obelisk with names of those who perished in the terror attack near the "Dolphin."
Marine Landscapes
Admiring the panoramic view of the sea and the sandy spit, you will quietly arrive at London Square, where, while looking at the impressive monument, you will learn about the origin of its name. Ahead are the expanses of the port and the Yarkon River, one of the main streets of the city, Ibn Gvirol. I will show you the "Seashell" Synagogue and reveal the secret of its builder, after which we will head towards the former "Square of the Kings of Israel" and the municipality building with its brutalist architecture.
The Heart of Modern Tel Aviv
You will see the oldest national Gabima Theater, which originated in Moscow, and Rothschild Boulevard – an open-air architecture museum. Here, you will see the trendiest facades: from the 1920s with exquisite ornaments, the 1930s Bauhaus style, to the 1980s when everyone loved postmodernism. Passing by the cozy pond with pitchers, we will reach the fountain with Gutman's mosaic, reflecting the thousand-year history of Jaffa, and talk about the harmonious past and present of Tel Aviv.
