About this experience
A walking tour of Tel Aviv and its parent - Jaffa - is the best way to explore these places. I will show you tourist and secret spots in both cities and reveal their histories. You will learn where the American colony is located and what the Russian baron did in our Palestine. Feel the past and present of the Israeli land.
What to Expect
Old Jaffa: facts and legends
Our walk will start from Jaffa - once one of Israel's main ports. You will see the Bridge of Wishes and the Statue of Faith. In the Artist's Quarter, you will visit the gallery of the famous sculptor Frank Meisler, whose works can be found in Russia, Europe, and the USA. In Neve Tzedek, the city's first Jewish neighborhood, you will uncover its mysteries and legends, and in the American colony, you will visit a hospitable house and learn about the tragic fate of representatives of the "Church of the Last Days." I will tell you where Roman Abramovich bought a house, how the best years of Platon Ustinov passed, and what the Russian baron did in Israel.
Tel Aviv: past and present of the city
In Tel Aviv, the first central streets bear the names Rothschild and Herzl - as is customary in any self-respecting Israeli settlement! Here you will understand why Tel Aviv is called the "White City" and why foreign embassies, stock exchanges, and diamond exchanges are located here. From diplomats, we will head to the hipsters: in the trendy Florentin district, you will hear how the city has changed and see interesting buildings. I will explain when the former Socialist Revolutionary Petr Ruttenberg electrified Tel Aviv and take you to the first skyscraper in the Middle East. And on Rothschild Boulevard, opposite the house of the first mayor, I will tell you where Israel was born.
Additionally, we will discuss mentions of Tel Aviv and Jaffa in the Bible, talk about local urban planning and the Bauhaus style, which has disappeared in Germany but still exists on the streets of Tel Aviv.
