About this experience
This route is designed for active travelers who want to experience the beauty of the Catalan mountains and explore its most picturesque corners. You will climb to the summit of Tagamanent Mountain in the Montseny National Park, explore an ancient castle, enjoy the scents of herbs and pine, and then relax against the backdrop of breathtaking mountain landscapes while trying local snacks.
What to Expect
Breathtaking nature of the Catalan mountains
The mountain trail will start literally behind the last house of the village and will lead us to the top of Tagamanent Mountain. Nature, hundreds of thousands of footsteps, and time have created natural steps almost along the entire length of the route, facilitating the ascent. As you climb, you will encounter a variety of landscapes of the Catalan mountains: dense thickets of subtropical plants in the ravines, evergreen pine caps, low-lying meadows of fragrant herbs. And in spring, this trail turns into a kaleidoscope of colors, scents, and wonderful views, capable of enchanting any guest of the Montseny mountains.
Ancient fortress of Tagamanent Mountain
You will reach the very top of Tagamanent Mountain, where an ancient fortress is located, which served as eyes and protection to the local mountain residents. From here, breathtaking panoramic views on all sides will open up to you: in good weather, you can see the jagged peaks of the mountains around the Montserrat monastery to the west, the snowy wall of the Pyrenees to the north, and the Mediterranean Sea to the south.
Picnic on the mountain summit
Every hour we will stop for short breaks, and at the mountain summit, we will have a picnic with local snacks and drinks. Also, if you wish, you can have dinner at a local restaurant located in an old farmhouse at an altitude of 1000 meters above sea level.
