That's why we will take you to the authentic Stone Town, enveloped in the charm of the East, preserving the secrets of sultans and remembering a young Freddie Mercury. Step by step, you will unravel the traditions of Zanzibar and get an inside look at the lives of local residents.
What to Expect
Get lost in the labyrinth of Stone Town
Chaotic, intricate, colorful, and unique streets of Stone Town - this is the Zanzibar that ordinary tourists do not even imagine. We will explore the oldest buildings on the island, discuss the history of slave trade in Tanzania at the former slave market and at the Anglican Cathedral. We will admire ornate shutters and grilles, enjoy the ocean and the Sultan's residence at the scenic gardens of Forodani. And, of course, we will find the iconic place in Stone Town - the house where the legendary Freddie Mercury was born and lived for eight years.
African vibes: full immersion
Stone Town resembles a large African market, making it the best shopping destination in Zanzibar! I will help you find authentic souvenirs, vibrant paintings by local artists, wooden crafts, and other curiosities. At the local markets - full of fish and spices - we will observe the lives of locals, discuss their traditions, rituals, daily life, and customs. And we will definitely taste Africa: along the way, we will stop for a cup of Tanzanian coffee and, of course, talk about Swahili cuisine - from exotic street food to national dishes prepared in Zanzibar's restaurants.
Organizational Details
- Considering the religious peculiarities of local residents, I recommend choosing conservative clothing for the tour (women are advised to cover their shoulders and knees)
