About this experience
This tour is an immersion into non-touristic, real Zanzibar. We will head to the unique Nungwi village and observe its tranquil life: visit the women's community, explore the fish market, visit a local school, interact with the most adorable children in the world, and taste Swahili dishes before visiting a small zoo.
What to Expect
Zanzibari Life in Nungwi Village
In this colorful village, you will see Zanzibar through the eyes of the island's indigenous people. We will explore traditional Swahili architecture, observe women weaving mkekas (mats made from leaves), learn about the construction of Dhow boats, visit the local fish market, and capture unique details of Zanzibari life rarely seen by tourists. Then, we will visit the 'Mama Africa' school, where local children are educated. You will learn about the island's education system, interact with children and teachers, and hear about an engaging art project involving our team members.
African Zoo: From Monkeys to Antelopes
Next, we will visit the local zoo, where African animals such as playful monkeys, lemurs, crocodiles, chameleons, Dik Dik antelopes, pythons, and turtles are kept in conditions close to their natural habitat. You can observe the zoo residents, take photos, and even feed them.
Moreover, during the journey, you will enjoy a lunch with delicious traditional Swahili dishes specially prepared for us.
