About this experience
In this program, I have combined the iconic places of the city - Sultan Qaboos Mosque, Al Alam Palace, Royal Opera House. The highlight of the tour is that in addition to historical facts, I talk about the cultural aspects, about how life in Oman differs from life in Russia. I believe that the greatest wealth of the country is its people, kind, smiling, with high moral values.
What to expect
- Sultan Qaboos Mosque - the largest in Oman and one of the largest in the world. At the time of its opening, it received two Guinness records - for the stunning handmade Persian carpet and for the huge chandelier with Swarovski crystals.
- Royal Opera House Muscat - a true architectural masterpiece, a bridge connecting Oman with the cultures of other countries. The opera hall is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and has incredible acoustics.
- Matrah Souq. After a walk along the cozy waterfront past old houses, we will visit one of the oldest markets on the Arabian Peninsula. The scent of frankincense, silver jewelry, antique shops, and the cave of Ali Baba himself will not leave anyone indifferent!
- Al Alam Palace will be the final point of our walk. This is the official residence of the Sultan, where he receives high-ranking guests. We will not go inside, but will take wonderful photos against its backdrop. At the end of the program, I will treat you to local tea with spices.
On the way, I will break stereotypes about the Islamic country, attitudes towards women and their role in society, education, medicine, features of child rearing, and the standard of living. I will also tell you how Muscat has changed throughout its history, which territories were part of the Omani Empire, why men wear African hats, how 'hidden women of the East' live, how men relax without alcohol, and much more!
