About this experience
You will walk around the area that was popular among the Tbilisi nobility in the 19th century. Due to the complex terrain, it was not suitable for housing - royal gardens were arranged here. With the development of technologies, the land was leveled, and the streets were built up with luxurious mansions. You will learn how modernist architects worked with such a complex landscape. And, walking through the district from the top of the slope down, you will see it from a new perspective.
What to expect
You will see:
- Madam Bozardjanc's mansion, which became a decoration of Switzerland in "Seventeen Moments of Spring"
- The house whose main entrance is through an underground tunnel
- A masterpiece of Art Nouveau - Tiflis Mutual Credit Society
- The parade house of Anna Madatova - one of the most original buildings in Tbilisi
And you will learn:
- What techniques were used in the early 20th century when building on slopes
- Why architects deviated from the red line
- How the means of Art Nouveau were used to create interesting facades
