About this experience
Jaffa is so old that getting to know its history can take months and years. But you will understand different eras, seeing the bright attractions of the city and places surrounded by legends. You will visit museums and workshops, walk across the Bridge of Wishes, and see the ancient harbor where the events of Boris Akunin's novel "Pelagia and the Red Rooster" took place.
Old Jaffa is the old city of Tel Aviv, a city that is about 4000 years old. So much has happened here over this time that a whole lifetime would not be enough to tell everything, but during our walk, we will try to understand all the most interesting and important things that this area can tell us about.
We will visit the museums and workshops of Ilana Gur and Frank Meisler, see the Hanging Orange Tree, walk across the Bridge of Wishes to Napoleon Square. I will show you my favorite places: the house of Simon Kozhevnikov, the rocks where Perseus saved Andromeda, the Franciscan Church of Apostle Peter, and the Old Turkish Saraya, where bats nest.
And that's not all, we will also visit the first Jewish quarter of Jaffa - Neve Tzedek, and explore the modern part of the city, Rothschild Boulevard - there is also a lot to tell about here! We will see the new Tel Aviv tram and the Old train station, the first house of Tel Aviv, and the place where the city's first gymnasium stood. We will end the tour near the Meir Dizengoff Museum, where 75 years ago on May 14, 1948, the state of Israel was established.
