About this experience
Is it worth visiting Sagrada Familia? My answer - definitely yes! To fully understand the 'Bible in stone', I suggest exploring the Nativity and Passion facades, interior spaces, and museum. You will see the temple as the realization of one man's dream - architect Antoni Gaudi. Understand his ideas, his relationship with nature and religion. And simply admire this miraculous building.
Tour Idea
Over 100 years ago, Antoni Gaudi designed a project that he was not destined to see completed. Nature embodied in stone, sunlight rays painted in all the colors of the rainbow, and the Holy Family - the main characters of this story. The architect devoted 43 years to construction, combining his professional knowledge, love for nature, and attitude towards religion. Alongside me, you will delve into the details of Gaudi's lifelong work and unravel his grand design.
What We Will Explore
Area around the temple. Before we delve into the facades, we will discuss the history and location of Sagrada Familia. You will hear key moments from Antoni Gaudi's biography and understand why the temple has been under construction for over 140 years (and when it will be completed). You will discover the issues the church faces with the Barcelona City Hall and examine a model of the finished masterpiece.
Nativity Facade - the oldest, the one Gaudi saw during his lifetime. That's why this facade is separately included in the UNESCO heritage list. We will explore the most important details of this 'sandcastle'.
Inside Sagrada Familia. We will examine the altar area and walk around the temple perimeter. How is the idea of cyclicity embodied in the stained glass windows? Why are the columns of such a shape? What materials are used here? How do contemporary architects interpret Gaudi's project? Optionally, we can also visit the room with furniture designed by Gaudi.
Passion Facade - by exploring it, you will almost read a story about the crucifixion of Christ. 'Perhaps, for some, this part of the temple will seem miraculous. But I hope to instill fear with it' - we will discuss the modern embodiment of Gaudi's idea.
Temple Museum. In the lower room, you will see the functioning workshop of Sagrada Familia models, as well as items and photos that will help understand what inspired the great architect.
