About this experience
Thanks to literature and film, Hampton Court and Windsor are well-known: there are almost as many visitors here as in the Tower of London. Their attractiveness is largely due to history and royal residents. During the tour, you will touch on the era of Tudor England and explore one of the most outstanding palaces of that time. And then we will explore the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world.
What to expect
Hampton Court
Here, a large part of the film "The Favourite" about the life of Queen Anne was shot, as well as "Young Victoria" and "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows". The castle also hosted the filming of episodes from splendid films about the Tudor dynasty: "Wolf Hall", "The Other Boleyn Girl", "The Tudors". After all, a significant part of the events depicted in these films historically took place in Hampton Court, the estate of Cardinal Wolsey, who later became the favorite palace of King Henry VIII. However, not his alone.
We will walk through the iconic places of the castle, immersing ourselves in the secrets of court intrigues and palace coups. And also see the first tennis court in the history of mankind, on which not everyone is honored to play now.
Windsor
Half an hour's drive from Hampton Court, you will visit another iconic residence of the British monarchs. Royal ceremonies are still held in the castle church of St. George. It is also the headquarters of the Order of the Garter, the highest order of knighthood in Great Britain and one of the oldest orders in the world.
The castle is also a favorite place for filmmakers, although it is slightly inferior to Hampton Court in this regard. The films shot within the castle walls are mostly documentary: "Royal Palaces: Windsor Castle", "Victoria", "Princess Diana: In Search of Happiness" and others.
