About this experience
In a few hours, I will try to charm you with the architectural and historical treasures of the Czech capital. In a light and friendly format, you will learn about the oldest corners of Prague, discover places celebrated by the greats, visit one of the most beautiful libraries in the world, taste dishes cooked with beer, and visit a museum with amazing miniatures.
What to Expect
Old Town: the very best
On the way, you will see many ancient monasteries, cathedrals, churches, and architectural monuments with rare relics. In the historical center, I will tell you about the first street in Prague, as well as about one of the most expensive streets in the world, where until the 19th century was the poorest quarter of the city – the Red Light District. You will also hear mystical legends of Charles Bridge and find a secret sculpture praised by Marina Tsvetaeva. You will see the house with the very first coffee shop, admire the picturesque Prague Venice, stroll on the most beautiful of the eight Prague islands, where I will show you the narrowest street with a traffic light and unusual sculptures by David Černý. And a little later, we will reach the embankment with swans.
Strahov Monastery – the oldest in Prague
Next, by tram, you will reach an old architectural and religious monument. We will talk about the history of the monastery, famous movies where you could have seen it, and the main treasure of the monastery – the library, which has been in existence for over 800 years. This is one of the most beautiful libraries in the world – its archive holds over three thousand ancient manuscripts! By the way, scenes for "Casino Royale" were filmed here. In conclusion, I will suggest a visit to the oldest monastery brewery, where beer is still brewed according to 17th-century recipes. I will tell you about the establishment's traditions and offer you to taste dishes, each of which is prepared with beer: beer onion soup, beer ice cream, beer cheese, beer goulash, and other amazing dishes.
Cozy Museum of Miniatures
I can accompany you on a visit to one of the unusual museums, which was created based on a rare collection by Russian artist Anatoly Konenko. You will only be able to examine all the exhibits in detail with the help of lenses and a magnifying glass. Among the smallest works are a model of the Eiffel Tower, which is one hundred thousand times smaller than the original, a whole caravan of camels in a very small needle's eye, a car on a thin mosquito leg, a writer's portrait on a single grain, and other amazing works.
Secret Places and Tips from a Local Resident
In addition to the program, I will share passwords and tips on "using" the city. For example, you will learn about secret panoramic locations, where Prague opens up from beautiful perspectives and you don't have to climb paid attractions for this. I will also happily take beautiful photos as a keepsake and answer your questions.
