Pompeii is a real time machine that takes us back to a distant past. I will show you how people lived almost 2000 years ago, what they were doing, what they believed in, what they feared, how they did business and engaged in politics, what they ate and how they entertained themselves. At the same time, you will discover the origins of many familiar details of modern life, everyday routines, and work.
What to expect
Plots from the past relevant to this day
- I will tell you how corruption was organized in ancient Pompeii, where pledges for mortgage contracts on city houses were kept, how citizens protected themselves from the evil eye
- We will draw parallels with the modern world - the window into the present in our time machine will always remain wide open!
- I will show you many technical solutions that made the lives of ancient Romans comfortable and that are still used in our everyday lives
- And what aesthetes the Pompeians were! You will appreciate the exquisite taste with which the houses in Pompeii were decorated. You will be surprised, but it turns out that the organization of repairs in an ordinary Pompeian's house used almost the same methods as we do.
- Finally, you will get acquainted with the people who lived in this city, who made it what we will see on the tour. You will discover how they looked and try to imagine the passions they were subject to, what they felt in their mortal hour - and you will understand how similar they are to us... Or have we not strayed far from them?
Our route: forum - basilica - theaters - baths - market - at least 2-3 private houses with frescoes and various utensils - casts of the bodies of deceased inhabitants
Organizational details
- Duration of the tour - 2 hours. But it can be shortened to 1 hour (the cost will change - 75€) or extended to 3-4 hours and expand the program (check the cost in the correspondence).
- Entrance tickets are additionally paid - 18€/adult. It is possible to buy tickets online in advance (booking fee +1.5€, I will send a link to the official website for ticket booking).
