About this experience
You will drive through the Vesuvius National Park, even peek into the volcano crater, admire the panorama of Naples from a bird's-eye view, and see the wonderful view of the picturesque islands of Ischia, Procida, and Capri. You will also visit the ruins of the ancient city of Pompeii, learn about its structure, and watch a 3D movie recreating the time when the locals peacefully coexisted with the 'sleeping' mountain.
What to Expect
Climb to Vesuvius
I will tell you about the history of Vesuvius eruptions and explain why it is one of the six most dangerous volcanoes in the world. Also, I will share the experiences of travelers in the 18th and 19th centuries who climbed to the top, as sung about in the famous Neapolitan song Funiculi Funicula. You will learn how the Neapolitans feel about the volcano and how they protect themselves from possible eruptions.
Pompeii through the Ages
You will walk through the ancient streets, see the houses of Pompeii residents, the theater, baths, bakery, laundry, and a public house. I will talk about the history and tragic death of the city, as well as the traditions and habits of its inhabitants. You will watch a 3D film reconstructing Pompeii and learn why the city remained buried under a layer of volcanic ash for over one and a half thousand years. I will show you the traces of the suddenly interrupted life of the ancient settlement and share the secrets of the archaeological excavations that began here in the mid-18th century, instantly attracting enormous interest not only from Italians but from the whole world.
