Gapyeong County in Gyeonggi Province is surrounded by mountains and rivers, making it a popular tourist destination. I will introduce you to its most vibrant attractions. You will immerse yourself in the atmospheric world of Nami Island, famous worldwide due to the Korean drama boom. And in the Morning Calm Garden, you will admire the arboretum and learn about landscape design traditions.
What to Expect
Nami Island
First, we will visit a crescent-shaped island located just an hour's drive from Seoul, known for its picturesque tree-lined paths with various species such as metasequoias, ginkgos, cedars, and many others. The island is perfect for family outings with young children.
Another feature of the island is the absence of telegraph poles; all power lines are buried underground, giving the island a more natural look. In the center, you will see a wide meadow surrounded by chestnut and poplar forests. Additionally, this is where the famous drama 'Winter Sonata' was filmed, marking the beginning of Korean dramas' global popularity!
Lunch
After strolling around the island, we will have lunch featuring a famous local dish, braised chicken with vegetables. You will savor the taste of local cuisine and rest a bit before continuing the journey.
Morning Calm Garden
In the second part of the program, you will witness a true natural wonder. The vast arboretum consists of 10 themed gardens with thousands of plant and tree species. The place gained particular popularity after the movie 'The Letter,' most of which takes place in the arboretum. The founder's idea was to recreate a colorful garden in an incomparable Korean style. You will enjoy the beauty of Korean nature and get acquainted with representatives of flora, including endangered species.
Organizational Details
- The price includes transportation services + guide services. The ferry fare to Nami Island (16,000 KRW), entrance ticket to Morning Calm Garden (11,000 KRW), drinks, and lunch are at the tourist's expense.
- The tour will be conducted in a Kia Niro car (crossover).
- I will pick you up from your accommodation in Seoul and drop you back after the tour. If you live outside the capital, we can arrange for transportation.
- For an additional fee, you can add a visit to Petite France (a themed park in Gapyeong County) to the program.
