About this experience
Get ready for an immersive tour through two continents, eras, and colorful districts! I will show you mosques and mansions with exotic names like Beylerbeyi and Kucuksu, introduce you to the exhibits of the Sadberkhanym Museum, and immerse you in the chronicles of the Ottoman Empire. You will enjoy the views from two fortresses - Anadolu and Rumeli, and relax by the Black Sea.
What to Expect
Our excursion will start with a ferry trip to the Asian part of the city - to the Uskudar district. There we will visit the largest mosque in the area - Nurbanu Sultan.
After Uskudar, we will head to the Asian museum of the Beylerbeyi Palace, nestled behind the support of the bridge across the Bosphorus. Beylerbeyi - the summer palace, which hosted European emperors. The kitchen stoves were never lit here in the summer, imperial horses were kept for rides and hunting. Here, the deposed Sultan Abdulhamid II spent six years in confinement.
Along the coast of the Bosphorus, we will pass by the imperial mansion of Kucuksu and the Anadolu Hisari fortress, standing in a place called the "cut throat." We will cross over to Europe via the second Bosphorus Bridge and ascend to the palaces in the Maslak district with the famous orangery. We will definitely visit the Sadberkhanym Museum in the Sarıyer district, whose collections of archaeological artifacts, Ottoman ceramics, and tableware are worthy of close attention.
And then you will be greeted by His Majesty the Black Sea, on which stands the beautiful Rumeli fortress - overlooking the blue cliffs of Simplegades. We will also pay attention to them, inspect them in detail, and even have lunch at a nearby fisherman's restaurant. In the summer, you can swim in the sea at Kilyos beaches if you wish.
