About this experience
I invite you to take a journey to the old charming Oxford, visit the most famous colleges, and delve into their history. You will walk through the corridors of Hogwarts, explore the renowned Bodleian Library, buy Alice's favorite sweets from Lewis Carroll's novel, and admire the Stradivari violins. In one day, we will explore the most interesting nooks of Oxford, discussing local ancient traditions and legends that give this place an incredible atmosphere.
What to Expect
Christ Church College Traditions
You will visit one of the largest aristocratic colleges in Oxford - Christ Church College, famous for its alumni, which include 13 British Prime Ministers, and beautiful decorations from the Harry Potter film: you will see the 'same' corridors, dining hall, staircase, courtyard, and other corners of Hogwarts. You will tour the legendary Bodleian Library, Radcliffe Camera, and Sheldonian Theatre, and learn about interesting local traditions, such as the famous duck hunt of the United Souls college.
Stories and Collections of the Ashmolean Museum
You will visit the famous Ashmolean Museum, home to a collection of Stradivari violins, including one of the master's most famous works - 'Messiah'. Here is also the oldest collection of rings, which inspired Tolkien's famous 'Lord of the Rings'. It was in this museum that the unsolved theft of a Cezanne painting on New Year's Eve 1999 took place...
Oxford's Most Iconic Places
You cannot miss the iconic bar for Oxford students, where brilliant politicians, writers, and scholars used to sit when they were still unknown students. You will visit Alice's Shop, featured in Lewis Carroll's novel, where you can try Alice's favorite sweets and buy souvenirs from Wonderland. Walk under the Bridge of Sighs and learn about the associated student traditions. And at the end of the walk, we will visit... a prison. No, it's a joke! We will go to a real prison, but with some peculiarities that I will tell you about when we meet :)
If time allows, we can also visit other interesting places in Oxford: Carfax Tower, which offers a picturesque city panorama, or Magdalen College, whose tall bell tower is considered a symbol of the city.
