About this experience
Dear guest! I am pleased to inform you that you are invited to the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry 'Hogwarts'. In the Great Hall, library, and hospital wing, you will immerse yourself in the Memory Pool and witness events from the lives of young wizards. The event will take place on a day and time convenient for you. I look forward to your owl the night before the visit or earlier. P.S. A pointed hat, robe, and magic wand are welcome. Sincerely yours, Daria, Professor of Transfiguration.
What to expect
Oxford University served as the prototype for Hogwarts. We will take a stroll through the university town, consisting of numerous colleges, and visit the main filming locations of the movies about the boy wizard. In our program:
Christ Church College - one of the most prestigious educational institutions, where British monarchs, prime ministers, and viceroys of India graduated. This is where the Great Hall scenes were filmed, where students from all faculties gathered for meals. Candles floated in the air, and the weather could be determined through the ceiling.
Magic staircase. We will revive memories of the plot of the movie 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets' and recall a couple of vivid episodes on this very staircase.
Hospital Wing. We will peek into the infirmary where wizards healed wounds. It is quite possible that we may even meet Madam Pomfrey.
Knowledge vault. We will visit the wizards' school library and the oldest reading room of the Bodleian Library at Oxford University. Just like in the movies, books are not allowed to be taken home from here.
Historic pub. We will not miss the historic establishment where the entire cast of actors would pop in to have a snack and celebrate the successful completion of yet another film series.
Furthermore, you will be introduced to the customs of the most prestigious university in the country, where the traditions of magic are just as strong as at Hogwarts
Introductory courses: history and theory of magic, book of spells, dark forces
- We will talk about the biography of J.K. Rowling. What did the author have to go through before she encountered literary triumph?
- I will tell you about the unusual parallels between the events in the magical world of 'Harry Potter' and historical events in Britain
- You will learn how the actors were selected for the lead roles, why Daniel Radcliffe initially didn't want to play the role of the boy with the scar on his forehead, and what role Rowling herself intended to play
- In addition, we will discuss why wizards need money, ponder the power of magic wands, horcruxes, and even practice some spells
Who will enjoy this tour
Youth and adult wizards, beginners and experienced ones
Footage from the movies 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone', 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire' were used in the description (Warner Bros. Pictures)
Organizational details
- The tour takes place in Oxford, however, I am happy to arrange departure from London by train or car (for an additional fee)
