About this experience
Beer is an important part of Tallinn's history - it has always been and will always be consumed here. To truly understand the city, one must immerse themselves in the brewing culture. We will visit a cozy restaurant in the city where you will try the best national craft beers, learn about the origins of this trendy trend, and compare it to industrial beer. I will tell you about the history of brewing, beer companies, and the characteristics of different beer styles.
What to expect
Each participant will taste 5 varieties of Estonian beer in 0.1ml tasting portions, and learn:
- when the history of brewing began and how the words of Pope Benedict 'Ora et labora!' ('Pray and work!') contributed to the development of beer production;
- the legend of how the Pope first tasted beer and why he allowed it to be consumed during fasting;
- the history and traditions of brewing in Estonia;
- what craft beer is, where this tradition came from, and when it first appeared in the Baltics;
- the difference between store-bought beer (industrial) and beer from a private company (craft).
As a result, after understanding the intricacies of industrial and craft brewing, the history of producers and beer styles, you will uncover a significant layer of Estonian culture.
