What to Expect
Mount Ara (Tsakhkevank Chapel)
We will visit one of the most unusual mountains in Armenia. It contains a cave, and in the cave, there's the Tsakhkevank Chapel with a healing spring of holy water. We will drive up to an altitude of 2000m, where a light walk awaits us to the cave entrance: 200 meters, a few steps, and we reach our destination.
Mount Aragats - Amberd Fortress - Lake Kari
Then the vehicle will take us to the foot of one of the peaks of Mount Aragats - the highest in Armenia. We will admire the views and head higher. First at 2000m - where we will encounter an unusual anomaly, then at 2200m - to the Amberd Fortress and vast expanses where shepherds with their flocks have vanished. The final point of the journey will be at an altitude of 3200m, where the mountain lake is located.
You will learn:
- What anomaly exists on Mount Aragats
- Who the Yezidis are and what they do at 3000m height
- To whom the monastery in the cliff of Mount Ara is dedicated
- Where the oldest lavash in Armenia was found
- Why Mount Ara is named after an Armenian king and what the Assyrian queen Semiramis has to do with it
