About this experience
Join us on an exciting tour of the most amazing and picturesque places in Armenia! You will see a church that is submerged underwater for 3-4 months a year, learn legends of a monastery perched on a cliff, visit one of the highest points of the Northern Caucasus, and discover ancient artifacts.
What to expect
Aparan Reservoir, where you will walk along the beach, admire the beauty of nature, and marvel at the grandeur of human creation. On the left bank stands the 5th-century Church of Saints Peter and Paul. After the construction of the reservoir, starting from 1967, the church 'submerges' in water and remains underwater for 3-4 months annually.
Kasagh River Gorge, listed as a state natural monument. You will visit the cliffside monastery of Saghmosavank, which according to legend became Armenia's savior during wartime, and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of ancient culture and history.
Mount Arailer and Tsakhkevank Monastery. Arailer is an extinct volcano and one of the highest points in the Northern Caucasus. The guide will tell you the significance of its name and the memory of which king it holds. Nearby is Armenia's oldest Christian shrine - the 4th-century Tsakhkevank Monastery. You will admire its unique architecture and study historical artifacts.
