About this experience
You will walk through the heart of the city and admire the main architectural monuments. You will see where the filming of 'The Diamond Arm' and other famous movies took place. You will hear how Baku became the capital. You will learn how it was influenced by oil, the Great Silk Road, and geographical location.
What to Expect
Shirvanshahs' Palace
The former residence of the rulers of Shirvan was built in the 13th-16th centuries. It was built due to the transfer of the capital of the Shirvanshah state from Shamakhi to Baku. You will appreciate the traditional elements of the Shirvan-Absheron architectural school.
Maiden Tower
The Maiden Tower rises in the southeastern part of the Inner City fortress. It is one of the most important parts of the seaside city. In the 13th-14th centuries, the tower was used as a lighthouse, in 1964 it became a museum, and since 2000 it has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Juma Mosque
This is a mosque for the collective prayer of the Muslim community at noon on Friday. It was built with the money of the Baku philanthropist Haji Sheikhali Dadashov.
Other Attractions
You will see Market Square, a caravanserai, ancient mosques, workshops, craft shops, souvenir stores. I will also show you where the films 'The Diamond Arm,' 'Amphibian Man,' 'Aibolit-66,' 'Tehran-43' were shot.
