About this experience
At the sea temple Tanah Lot and the temple on the sacred lake Ulun Danu, you will learn about the place of the water element in the culture and religion of the Balinese people, about protective deities and oceanic demons, and about the history of the creation of these two iconic sanctuaries. You will also sample different types of coffee with organic tea and see the majestic Banjamala waterfall.
What to Expect
Tanah Lot - Bali's Sea Sanctuary
First, you will visit one of the most famous and revered temples of the island, located on a rocky islet in the Indian Ocean. You will learn about the principles of constructing temples on the shores of Bali and protection from demons that, according to local beliefs, inhabit the seas. During low tide, you can walk to the picturesque structure, and during high tide, you can admire it from a distance. I will tell you about the traditions of this active Hindu temple built in the 16th century and reveal the legends of its founder - Brahmana Nirartha.
Ulun Danu Bratan Temple
Further on the way to Mount Bedugul, you will stop at coffee plantations, where you will be offered to taste several varieties of coffee and organic tea. Afterwards, I will take you to the 17th-century Ulun Danu Bratan Temple, built on the shore of a sacred lake. You will learn why the water reservoir has long been considered sacred and hear about the goddess of the lakes, Devi Danu, to whom the temple is dedicated. Here you will discover perhaps the most enchanting views of the day: a mysterious temple on a mystical lake surrounded by tropical jungles and mountains, with clouds sleeping on their peaks.
Lakes and Waterfalls of North Bali
You will also visit the twin lakes - Buyan and Tamblingan, near which picturesque villas have been erected. Along the way, you can stop to feed the wild monkeys roaming along the road. Finally, after trekking through the jungles, you will reach the majestic Banjamala waterfall, where the most adventurous can even take a dip.
