About this experience
This day will be dedicated to the water element, which holds special significance in Hinduism. You will visit one of the most impressive temples in Bali - the ancient Tanah Lot, hear legends about its creation, and admire the views of the rocky oceanic landscapes. You will observe tropical nature near the beautiful Git Git Waterfall. You will see three of the four sacred lakes of Bali and learn about the cult of the goddess Devi Danu.
What to Expect
Tanah Lot Temple
In the village of Beraban, you will visit the famous temple located on a small island, which can only be approached by a causeway during low tide. Pura Tanah Lot - 'Land in the Sea' - is an ancient religious monument built in the 15th century and one of the nine main sacred temples in Bali. You will hear the legend of its creator - the Hindu Brahmin Nirartha, and learn about the local belief associated with the special role of sea temples. And, of course, here you can take stunning shots of monkeys contemplating on the rock and magnificent ocean landscapes.
Git Git Waterfall and Sacred Lakes of Bali
Next on the itinerary is the most popular waterfall complex in the north of the island. The charming 40-meter Git Git is a wonderful place where you can observe wild nature and relax in the shade of tropical thickets. Then you will drive along a mountain serpentine and on the way, you will see Buyan and Tamblingan Lakes in the crater of the extinct Batur volcano. We will talk about Hindus' attitude towards the water element and, inevitably, about the legends associated with the origins of the sacred lakes.
Pura Ulun Danu Bratan Temple
To continue acquainting yourself with the sacred water bodies, you will visit the third lake - Bratan, where the ancient 17th-century temple - the second most important in Bali - is located. You will hear the history of its construction by order of King Mengwi and the legends of the temple's patroness - the water goddess Devi Danu, who bestows prosperity and abundance.
By 17:00 - 18:00, you will already be back at your hotel or villa, the exact time of arrival depends on the road conditions and the location of your accommodation.
