About this experience
We will leave the glamorous French Riviera with crowds of tourists and head to the neighboring Var province, which will amaze you with idyllic landscapes featuring red mountains, blooming trees, and secret beaches. You will walk through the stunning Esterel National Park, see the ancient castle and Puzarey Palace, climb the hilly paths to the mountaintop, and delight in the magnificent seaside views. I will tell you what it's like to live in France, how the southern French differ from those in the capital, and why Russians love Nice so much.
What to Expect
Blooming Mediterranean
You will spend time surrounded by magnificent landscapes and feel the idyllic beauty and tranquility of these places. Depending on the season, you will see the blooming mimosa, citrus, wildflowers, violets, lotuses, or lavender. I will not overload you with historical information but will reveal the everyday secrets of the locals: where to buy delicacies, try authentic French dishes inexpensively, and make your stay enriching while avoiding mass tourism routes. You will not only receive valuable information but also see many interesting places. So, the program includes:
- Medieval castle located by the sea in the Maritime Alps. You will understand how this area differs from the familiar French Riviera. Initially, there were ancient Roman and Saracen structures at the castle site, later transformed into a luxurious residence of the local count.
- Memorial "African Madonna" on the mountain peak bordering the national park. You will walk along hilly trails among blooming mimosa trees, lavender butterflies, and small white lilies (depending on the season) and enjoy the splendid view of the sea.
- Puzarey Palace — a private residence closed to visitors. However, we will be able to admire it from the outside on the way to the national park.
- Esterel National Park, where you will be impressed by the arrays of red mountains and mesmerizing seaside landscapes.
- Cozy beaches — located among the mountains, they are considered some of the most beautiful not only in France but in the world.
- Local wines — time permitting, upon request, we will stop by a shop where you can taste and purchase French wines.
Organizational Details
- Transportation is not included in the tour price. If you are not traveling by car, please let me know in advance. I will advise you on where and how to rent a car. The farthest point of the tour is located 1-1.5 hours drive from Nice.
- Food and drinks are not included in the price. If you wish, we can stop for lunch on the way or bring sandwiches and have a picnic at the mountaintop.
- I am a flexible guide and ready to make changes to the itinerary according to your preferences.
- Please wear comfortable shoes. It takes 30-50 minutes to climb to the "African Madonna" memorial on the mountain.
- The tour is not recommended for young children due to physical exertion.
- In the summer, a boat trip can be included in the itinerary starting from 200 euros.
