About this experience
This program includes everything you need to get acquainted with Istanbul. Mosques as if cut out of postcards, a colorful bazaar with the smell of spices and Turkish sweets, a palace that you don't necessarily have to enter to appreciate its luxurious architecture and famous gates. Accompanied by a guide who will immerse you in the history of the city - from the Roman Empire to the present day.
What to expect
Blue Mosque. You will admire the beautiful tiles and stained glass and learn why this mosque has 6 minarets.
Suleymaniye Mosque. One of the gems of the Old City, a favorite mosque of the locals. From here, you will enjoy a beautiful panorama as Suleymaniye is located on a hill. You will also see the tombs of Sultan Suleiman and Roxelana.
Topkapi Palace. We will visit its first courtyard for free. You will hear the history of the harem in the palace, see the famous gates and the spot where one vizier was executed. You will learn how the empire was ruled, the law of ascending the throne, and why fratricides occurred.
Grand Bazaar. A famous 15th-century bazaar. Immerse yourself in a special Eastern atmosphere with carpets and other goods, learn why Turkish women valued gold so much, and try Turkish delight.
Hagia Sophia. We will explore the legendary Byzantine church from the outside, discuss its long and incredibly detailed history. After that, you will be able to independently visit the museum and mosque inside.
Organizational details
- The Grand Bazaar is closed on Sundays; on this day, we can visit the Beyazid Mosque or the Egyptian Bazaar instead.
- On Tuesdays, visiting the first courtyard of Topkapi Palace is not possible, but I will tell you about the palace in front of its main gates.
- Women visiting mosques need headscarves and modest clothing.
- The tour will be conducted by me or another guide from our team.
