About this experience
The house on Salzburg's Getreidegasse is the perfect backdrop to learn about the great Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The Mozart family lived here for 26 years, and it was in this house on a cold January evening in 1756 that the future composer was born. During the tour, you will learn many interesting facts about the 18th century in general and the world of music in particular.
What to Expect
The Image of Mozart's Era
In the house-museum, you will see 'witnesses' of distant 18th-century events - authentic musical instruments, interior items, as well as personal belongings of the Mozart family and Wolfgang Amadeus himself. I will tell you about the people of that era: how they were born, married, died, what they ate, what clothes they wore, how they were brought up, studied, worked, what they believed in, and what values they cherished.
The World of Music in the 18th Century and the Talents of the Great Composer
You will learn about the 'system of training' musical talents in the 18th century, how well musicians' work was paid. I will tell you about Mozart's status in the aristocratic hierarchy of that time, what exceptional musical ability Wolfgang Amadeus possessed. You will also hear about who commissioned the composer's works, who his friends and enemies were, what Mozart's 'vice' hobby was, and why there is not a single authentic portrait of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
