What to expect
Salzburg shrouded in legends and folklore
Nestled under Alpine mists, Salzburg has hidden many secrets - all of which will be revealed step by step on our walk. You will find out if Mozart's genius skull is really kept in the Mozart's museum-apartment, and uncover the secret of his death, where the Masonic lodge and the infamous Salieri are alternately blamed. I will tell you where the seven wives of Salzburg's Duke 'Bluebeard' rest, why the monks every morning add oil to the lamps of the mysterious church mausoleum, and what will happen if this is not done. And we will also talk about how the ghost of the Archbishop appeared in the fortress 'High Salzburg' and where the Emperor Charlemagne sleeps in the city, who wakes up once every 300 years.
Mysterious places of the city
Behind the captivating stories of Salzburg, we will head to the Mirabell Palace (I will tell you why this place was called the 'Palace of Forbidden Love') and other mysterious corners of the city. You will learn what frightened the Bavarian Duke at the famous Dwarf Garden, see the grave of the mystic healer Paracelsus, hear about the 'salt pirates' at the Salzach river, and walk along the Getreidegasse, examining the medieval houses of Venetian merchants. We will find the birthplace of Mozart, meet the legend-shrouded Benedictine Monastery and the Cathedral with five organs. And in Salzburg's oldest bakery, which is over 8 centuries old, you will find a monumental monastery loaf of the Apostle Peter.
