What to Expect
Legendary Nida Plateau
Our journey from Heraklion will be filled with discussions about Crete - its history and ethnography, customs and traditions, nature and geology. Driving along the mountain serpentine road, passing by unusual stone chapels mitatas, we will reach the mystical Nida Plateau at an altitude of 1500 meters above sea level. Here, you will explore Ideon Cave, where according to legend, Zeus was raised, listen to the folklore of the locals surrounding the plateau, and take fascinating photos. We can also visit the small church of Analipsi and buy artisan sheep's milk cheeses at a store located in the mountain shelter building.
Mountain Village Anogia
On the way back, you will visit an authentic village where time seems to have stood still. Anogia deserves attention if only because it has been completely destroyed and rebuilt from the ashes three times in the last 2 centuries. We will stroll through colorful streets, visit local temples and museums. We will stop for lunch at one of the taverns where everything is excellent - from local dishes and surrounding mountain landscapes to the wonderful host Alekos. And we will also visit a shop where you can buy woven products.

- Transfer by class A car for 3 passengers is included in the excursion price
- Travel time from Heraklion to Nida Plateau is about 1.5 hours
- For small children, the excursion may be more tiring than pleasant due to the long road journey and mountain serpentine roads
- If you are traveling with a child, please specify the need for a child seat or booster when booking
