About this experience
Today you are about to discover a remarkably colorful settlement, where everyone wears traditional black attire and 'with a dagger at their waist', drives black jeeps with tinted windows, and sports black mustaches reminiscent of Münchhausen. Rumor has it that the strictest customs on the island are observed here. In this secret little corner, you'll find a fantastic mountain air, unparalleled coziness of a Cretan village, and it seems like the clocks have stopped at two o'clock on a Sunday...
What to Expect
Picturesque Cave
First, we will take you to a cave with colorful lighting, rightfully considered the largest and most beautiful on the island. Massive columns form the rooms in the cave, and among the countless stalactites and stalagmites of different shapes and colors, you can easily imagine yourself as the hero of a fantasy movie.
Tavern as an Ethnographic Museum
Next, you will stroll through small quiet streets and visit one of the taverns, where at the entrance a colorful old man with a beard is roasting lamb on the fire. The atmosphere of the tavern is very interesting: the walls and ceiling are generously decorated with typical examples of peasant life, and among the interior items, there is an abundance of antiques. Here you will not only enjoy delicious food but also touch real Cretan history and life. And through the panoramic windows, while sipping a glass of homemade wine, you can admire the beautiful view of the Cretan mountains.
Authentic Crafts
In the museum of wooden statues, you will get acquainted with the work of a talented Cretan wood carver. The author dedicated almost his whole life to his favorite activity, and he works on each sculpture daily throughout the year! The scent of cedar, extraordinary plots, sizes that seem like living details, and patterns leave no one indifferent. The village is also famous for its weaving traditions - in the center, you will encounter a whole exhibition-sale of various tablecloths, carpets, and other masterpieces of this art.
