About this experience
Discover the artistic life of Vienna by visiting several museums and exhibition halls of modern art. Explore the modernist glass and steel building Belvedere 21, where you will learn about local artists. Step into the Secession House to understand the world of independent creativity. See works by Marina Abramovich, Cindy Sherman, and other artists in the former imperial stables.
What to Expect
Begin the art tour at Belvedere 21, where you will find exhibitions of post-war Austrian art. The displays here change regularly, but I will explain the specifics of the artistic practices of local artists.
Continue to the Secession House—a masterpiece of modernist architecture and the only exhibition hall in Austria managed by artists. Here, you will see what the independent art scene looks like.
The Museum Quarter is the former imperial stables which now house several creative spaces. Here, you can visit the Museum of Modern Art mumok with thematic exhibitions from its own collection. Optionally, we can walk through the quarter's passages—outdoor exhibition spaces—or explore a mumok exhibition or another museum of your choice.
