About this experience
Bukhara - a colorful, mysterious, and very interesting place. We will stroll through the winding streets of the Old City, admiring the majestic minarets, madrasas, and mosques. We will visit the Ark fortress, Registan Square, the Samanid Mausoleum, and the ancient trading domes. I will share the mysterious history and architectural features of these places.
What to expect
Enchanting Bukhara
You will see all the main attractions of the city and hear interesting facts about them. The tour program includes:
- Lyab-i Hauz - a square where you will see several ancient madrasas and a small artificial pond where locals like to relax. I will reveal how Lyab-i Hauz is connected with merchandising, Judaism, and Hodja Nasreddin.
- Trading domes - I will show you the ancient domes of Toki-Sarrafon, Toki-Telpak Furushon, and Toki-Zargaron. And I will tell you about Bukhara as an important point on the map of the Great Silk Road.
- Poi Kalyan Ensemble - the spiritual center of the city. Here you will learn about the significance of the 47-meter minaret of the same name and how the educational process was organized in the only madrasa that operated during Soviet times.
- The Ark Citadel - the main residence of the Bukhara rulers. You will hear about the events that took place here and the important figures who visited.
- Samanid Mausoleum - the burial place of representatives of one of the oldest Eastern dynasties. You will decipher its unique architecture, combining elements of Islam and Zoroastrianism.
Organizational details
- Entrance tickets to the Lyab-i Hauz, Kosh-Madrasah, Poi-Kalyan Complexes, and Trading Domes complexes are not required.
- If desired, we can also visit paid attractions - the Samanid Mausoleum and the Kalyan Mosque from the inside. Tickets for them are paid separately - €3 per person.
- Visiting other paid architectural monuments, museums, and exhibitions is not included in the tour.
