About this experience
The Marble Cascade is a breathtaking sight, while Piediluco Lake is a nearly mystical place of astonishing beauty. Join us in Umbria, the green heart of Italy, to enjoy these attractions. You will see all levels of the waterfall, take a ferry ride on the calm waters of Piediluco, and taste traditional cuisine at a local restaurant. If you wish, we can stay until evening to admire the picturesque sunset over the lake.
What to Expect
Man-Made Wonder
The Marble Cascade was artificially created before our era. It gained special popularity in the 18th century when it became part of the Grand Tour - a cultural trip for aristocrats at the end of their education. Writers and artists admired it, and the rainbow above the waterfall was considered one of the wonders of the world. I will tell you the history and legends associated with this place. We will walk along the cascade, visit viewpoints and pavilions, and admire the waterfall from different angles. You will also have the opportunity to peek into the Lovers' Grotto and stand on a balcony right next to the water streams.
Scenic Landscapes
Afterward, we will head to Piediluco Lake to take a ferry ride and enjoy the view from the water. The lake is surrounded by amazingly symmetrical pyramidal hills - I will explain the scientific explanations for this phenomenon and where the underground tunnels here could have come from. I suggest having lunch at a restaurant on the opposite shore - they serve traditional dishes made from local products and fish. Afterward, we will return to the village, stroll through its streets, visit ancient churches, and talk about the history of medieval Italy, traditions, and local residents.
