About this experience
Not far from Milan, in the midst of the Alpine mountains, lies a picturesque valley with a turquoise lake, and a loud waterfall greets travelers... This excursion will transport you into such a fairy-tale picture. You will stroll along Lake Morasco, learn about the local northern Italian people, admire the waters of Cascata del Toce, and taste delicious cheese. And of course, you will enjoy fantastic high-mountain panoramas and aromas.
What to Expect
Stroll by the turquoise lake
We will meet at Arona station and head towards the Swiss border: here you will encounter the artificial Lake Morasco - small but very picturesque. You will walk along the lake in the Formazza Valley and admire the breathtaking mountain landscapes from the observation deck.
Life in the valley
I will tell you about the geography and history of this place, where the Walser people live. You will observe the peaceful life of the villages and the grazing cows of a special breed. Their milk is used to make the famous Bettelmatt cheese, which you can taste and buy at the local store. You can also visit one of the restaurants and indulge in local delicacies - dried goat meat, mountain cheese with blue mold, and prosciutto val vigezzo.
Powerful streams of the waterfall
From a height of 145 meters, the waters of the Toce waterfall - one of the most powerful in Italy and all of Europe - fall. You will descend to the foot of the waterfall, enjoy its splashes, bask in the rays of the mountain sun, remember what Italian "pizzolino" is, and maybe want to visit the local thermal baths in Premia - famous thermal springs in Italy. In addition, we can organize a real Italian picnic with prosciutto, melon, and prosecco right by the waterfall!
