About this experience
On the main financial street in the world, you will learn about the origins of the American stock exchange, where the first US president was inaugurated, visit the infamous World Trade Center memorial, and get acquainted with the history of the Chinese, Italian, and Irish diasporas that made a significant contribution to the life of New York.
What to Expect
Wall Street: the main financial street in the world
The walk will start on Broadway - the longest and oldest street in Manhattan, from where you will turn onto the small and narrow Wall Street, symbolizing the entire American stock market. We will talk near the Charging Bull statue about how aggressive financial optimism and prosperity became the main idea of the street. Next to the New York Stock Exchange, we will discuss the origins and development of the most authoritative intercontinental trading platform, as well as the years of the Great Depression, which left a historical mark on one of the building's details.
Historical and modern landmarks of Manhattan
Near Federal Hall, I will tell you about significant events of the past, including the inauguration of the first US president and the passing of the "Bill of Rights." You will learn about the challenging fate of New York's oldest church - Trinity Church, which was once the tallest building in the city. Also on the agenda is the World Trade Center Memorial, dedicated to one of the most significant acts of terrorism in human history - the collapse of the Twin Towers. I will show you the new structures that have become the center of the global economy. And, of course, you will reach the Hudson River waterfront, from which you can enjoy a beautiful view of New Jersey and the Statue of Liberty - a separate conversation about the history and symbolism of the monument will follow.
Ethnic Quarters: Chinatown and Little Italy
The history of New York's settlement cannot be imagined without ethnic neighborhoods, where the culture and traditions of different diasporas were concentrated. In Chinatown, you will learn how at the end of the 19th century streams of Chinese immigrants flowed into the city, what activities they were engaged in, and what this colorful neighborhood represents today. In Little Italy, you will hear about the most famous example of an Italian quarter in the US with stories of legendary mafiosi, and see the places where "The Godfather Part II" and "Mean Streets" were filmed. Additionally, I will show you the location of the famous Five Points neighborhood and talk about the criminal past of the cradle of Irish gangs in New York.
