Secrets of Brooklyn
You will visit Brooklyn Heights and Dumbo - two of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Brooklyn with stunning views of Manhattan. I will tell you how Dumbo transformed from an industrial port area into a modern district of expensive offices, shops, and restaurants. And in the aristocratic Brooklyn Heights, you might come face to face with Hollywood stars.
Financial Capital of the World
After crossing the legendary Brooklyn Bridge, you will find yourself in Manhattan and see Wall Street - the heart of America's economy. At the Charging Bull statue, I will explain how aggressive financial optimism and prosperity became the main idea of the street. You will also see the New York Stock Exchange, learn about the origins and development of the intercontinental trading hub, and discover traces of the Great Depression in one of the building's details.
Historical and Modern Landmarks of Manhattan
You will see Federal Hall and learn about the inauguration of the first U.S. president and the passing of the "Rights Bill." You will hear about the tumultuous history of Trinity Church - the oldest church in New York and once the tallest building in the city. On the Hudson River waterfront, you will enjoy a view of New Jersey and the Statue of Liberty. The program also includes the World Trade Center Memorial, dedicated to the victims of one of the most significant terrorist attacks in human history.
Colorful Ethnic Quarters
In Chinatown, I will explain why streams of Chinese immigrants flooded into the city in the late 19th century, what they did, and how this colorful neighborhood lives today. In Little Italy, you will hear about legendary mobsters and see where "The Godfather 2" and "Mean Streets" were filmed. Additionally, I will show you the location of the famous "Five Points" district and talk about the criminal past of New York's Irish gang haven.
At the Junction of Soho and Greenwich Village
You will stroll through Soho and learn how old factory buildings became elite bohemian apartments. Walking through New York University, you will reach Washington Square and admire the famous Triumphal Arch.
