About this experience
You will walk through Heroes' Square and Andrássy Avenue, explore alleys and secret courtyards. Hear the legends of the local castle, see the sculpture that won the Grand Prix at the World Exhibition in Paris over 100 years ago, and witness the metro station that doesn't exist. And you will also find out how and why the city ducks blackmailed the locals.
What to Expect
- Andrássy Avenue. It is listed as a UNESCO heritage site and is also known as the Champs-Élysées of Budapest.
- Heroes' Square. You will see how Hungarians looked in the 9th century when they arrived in these lands, and the first king who baptized his people.
- National Museum of Fine Arts - one of the oldest museums in Europe. You will admire the facade of the building, and I will tell you about the treasures hidden behind its walls.
- City Park. There used to be swamps here where kings hunted. And today you can find a non-existent metro station.
- Lake with thermal water. I will tell you how local ducks blackmailed the townspeople to have such luxurious conditions.
- Count Dracula - created by street sculptor Mikhail Kolodko.
- Széchenyi Thermal Bath - the largest European thermal bath complex. You will admire the building, and I will tell you how this place is related to a hippopotamus.
- Budapest Zoo - one of the oldest zoos in the world. You will not enter, but you will explore its territory from the outside.
- Vajdahunyad Castle. You will admire the eclectic architecture of the building, and I will tell you its history.
